Espadrilles Make A Mad Comeback

Chanel

Source: Instagram

Espadrilles, the shoe that comes from Spain and made with a Mediterranean grass which is used in making rope. Kinda crazy right? I would imagine when they were first made in Spain back in the 14th century, how uncomfortable they must have been. The wiry grass, itching your feet? But lucky for us, times have changed and so have espadrilles. I remember my mom having a pair and wanting a pair myself, so as I got older, I did. So now the trend is back and I love it, take a look at some of my favorite pairs:

Do You Have Your Kicks?

Source: New Balance

Source: New Balance

I am just loving this sneaker trend right now. Although these type of sneakers aka kicks have been around for years, they are being re-invented in several ways by several designers. If you grew up in the 80′s like myself ( Gosh, did I really just give my age away?) LOL, you remember the style of sneakers such as Adidas, Puma, Nike, and Gola. I remember wearing my pumas with the original Adidas track outfit or my “pegged” Levi’s jeans. That was to me known as the original hip hop look started by RUN DMC, Kurtis Blow and other best known rappers of the day. But now there’s been a resurgence of the sneaker and wearing them are not just limited to wearing them with your track suit or jeans.

Remake On Birkenstocks

Birkenstocks have been around for quite some time and to be honest, I have never been a fan. Ok, so I’ve been told “they are so comfortable though”, they may be comfortable but not fashionable right? Well, to satisfy the comfort and fashion, several designers have decided to glamify them up. Isabel Marant put her spin on the whole Birkenstock look for spring. On another trip to Nordstrom Galleria RosevilleI took a loop around the shoe department to see what new shoes they had in. Take a look below and see what I discovered on my trip. I just may have to give this whole Birkenstock look a try!

These are just too cute, I didn’t have time to try on, but I will on my next visit!!

Ways to wear distressed denim

Distressed denim, ripped denim, whatever you want to call it, has long been in the fashion history books since Levi Strauss manufactured the first blue jean in 1853. Back then, when the jeans became ripped and torn it was due to over worn, over use on the range in the wild west. Now wearing this type of jean is purposely ripped and torn to look fashionable and you know what? It is, we all lust after it each season a new style comes out and regardless of how many pairs we may have, we want more.. Ok, I’m saying ‘we’, I technically mean ‘me’ I guess?? No, seriously, we really do, both us women and men, we can never enough jeans right? I’ve put together several ways to wear your distressed denim so you can fill your closet with more along with these lust wish-list add on’s!

Asos Purchases!

I am so excited! I have been wanting a leopard print coat for the longest and have searched far and wide for one, finally after checking all over for one in my size, Asos came to to rescue! The sale they are having is really phenomenal and I did also purchase the LIGHTFIELD Slipper shoes for only $19.06 and Longline Animal Faux Fur Coat was only $72.60, normally $145.19. There are just way too many fantastic sales to pass up. I will keep you all abreast of any other good deals I may come by, but in the mean time, Happy Sale Hunting!

Gotta Love ‘Rue’

Many of you may have heard of a site called Rue La La Rue La La is a site where you can find many fantastic shopping deals. From home to clothing to handbags and more, they offer what they call ‘Boutiques’. These boutiques, are special pricing products at member only pricing that they obtain directly with brand names such as Hermés, Vintage Hermés, Vintage Chanel, Prada, Tory Burch, and other high end designers. But it’s not just high end designers that are spotlighted, it’s special pricing on vacations, home products, children’s clothing and toys. The only glitch is that these amazing deals are only good for 48 hours. The boutiques open and 11 am est and after the 48 hours, the deal is done. This week the boutique I love is the Spotlight on pointed shoes, I have a special place in my heart for pointed toe shoes. I guess it’s the preppy girl in me that makes me love them so. But if you love pointed toe shoes as much as I do, hurry fast because they are going fast and the boutique closes in 1 day. Check out my faves…

What ‘Choo’ Say?

Well my oh my Tamara Mellon, co-founder of the amazing sexy shoe line that we all immortalize as THE shoe to have has a new shoe label with her own name on it. Mellon, widely known as starting the shoe line with business partner and Cobbler Jimmy Choo in 1996 stepped down from the company in 2011 with $135 million. Choo who was instrumental in co-designing the shoes was bought out 5 years after the company was built by a private equity firm Phoenix Equity Partners for 13 million dollars. This fall Mellon will launch her own clothing and shoe line, called Tamara Mellon and wrote a tell all book called In My Shoes that went on sale Tuesday. After Leaving a tumultuous relationship after buying out Jimmy Choo and after the company was funded by private equity firms for its expansion felt betrayed by the one once close to her. But no fear, her new clothing and shoe line will introduce items every 6 months, the price line will less, and she’ll use the same factories and same quality fabrics as before. Her line will be sold in Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Net-A-Porter. Look forward all to see what this new brand brings and what it will look like. For more on her story past and present relationships with family and executives of her once love Co, Jimmy Choo, read her book which is now available in stores and on line.
