If you haven’t seen this coming by now, then where have you been? Every time I pass by the Delia’s store in the Westfield Roseville Galleria, it’s always empty. I’ve seen this coming for quite sometime now. To be quite honest, I surprised they haven’t closed yet. But now here’s the next question, what does this mean for other teen stores? With the every changing styles and teens moving away from stores like these, what is the fate of others such as Abercrombie and Fitch, or Hollister? They’ve made some pretty drastic changes to their iconic college prep look and so far it seems to be working, along with constant sales. Stores such as Forever 21 and H&M seem to be the way more teens and 2o’s above are spending their money at these days. What do you think?

If you’re like me, or how I used to be, Black Friday shopping was a tradition to do the day after Thanksgiving. My mom and I would get up every morning the day after and start our Christmas shopping, but since being in the retail and fashion world, I’ve come to learn a few things that most retailers will not tell you. Those supposed “Black Friday” deals and sales, really aren’t anything special. Yes, maybe in the past they used to be this whole big hoopla of massive sales, but since the economic plunge several years ago, this in turn has caused retail to take huge profit losses.
With these loss of sales came the need to keep their customers spending money, even in a rough economy. So, what did they do? With the exception of some luxury brands, several retailers started to rethink strategies on how to maintain sales goals. In came sale after sale, especially with big retailers like Sears, JC Penny, Kohls, and others. That trend has continued throughout the last several years. We as consumers, tend to think that the only way to get really good deals on clothing items, is to wait for the sales like Veteran’s Day, Columbus Day etc. But did you know that most retailers, have sales consistently?
With the Christmas season approaching, it’s time for the oh so famous “Black Friday” shopping day in which retailers tend to lure consumers into thinking they’re getting the lowest price on that item they’ve been wanting. But “Black Friday” is really not the day to get those best deals. Retailers such as J Crew, Zara, TopShop Nordstrom, H&M and more are consistently having clearance sales throughout the year. Think about it, they have to make room for new merchandise and the only way to do that is clear out the old. I’ve put together a few tips and links to some sales that are currently in progress to make your holiday shopping a little easier and hopefully avoid the massive crowds at the mall.
1. If you can’t get to your favorite store in the mall such as Bloomingdales, H&M, or Victorias Secret and others often then check their website for sales and signup to receive email updates. This way you’ll be informed of any sales offers they are promoting for the week. I guarantee there is always a promotion they are running.
2. Online shopping is probably everyone’s favorite place to shop, there are so many deals that retailers offer online only so, again, be diligent on signing up for email updates.
So, there you have it, my own personal tips to help you find that best deal for all of your Christmas shopping needs. Below are just a few of my favorite retailers, but always shop around.

I am so excited! I have been wanting a leopard print coat for the longest and have searched far and wide for one, finally after checking all over for one in my size, Asos came to to rescue! The sale they are having is really phenomenal and I did also purchase the LIGHTFIELD Slipper shoes for only $19.06 and Longline Animal Faux Fur Coat was only $72.60, normally $145.19. There are just way too many fantastic sales to pass up. I will keep you all abreast of any other good deals I may come by, but in the mean time, Happy Sale Hunting!
