The Monopoly of Kris Jenner

Keeping Up with the Kardashians

The Kardashian’s are everywhere we look, all over print and online publications. I know there have been plenty of write ups on this ‘Mommager‘ of 6, but I just couldn’t help myself to put my own thoughts out there on this family and how far they’ve come since the first episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” aired on ‘E’ Entertainment in October of 2007. 17638Now, the family had been famous for the elder Robert Kardashian Sr., a high profile celebrity attorney. He was one of the criminal attorneys in the murder case against OJ Simpson and had gained media attention for that case. Kim Kardashian at the time had been climbing the socialite wall, by hanging out with famous socialites such as Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie in addition to aspiring to become a celebrity stylist. kim-kardashian-paris-hilton-garticleBut what probably catapulted her to fame was the now popular “sex” tape with then boyfriend recording artist Ray J. What a way to get famous right? Well, since then, it’s been coming up roses for the family with Kris Jenner becoming the manager of Kourtney, Kim and Khloé and eventually dragging in her two youngest girls Kendall and Kylie. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great when a mother can manage her children’s career and lead them into doing something great not only for themselves, but for the world as well. In my own personal opinion, ‘momma‘ Jenner is trying to monopolize her children in every aspect of the media. Being a good mother is leading your child down the correct path in life, teaching them good morals and values and having respect for themselves. Ok, being a mother of two girls myself, I know that each child makes their own decisions in life and can create their own path if they choose to do so. But in respect to how far Jenner has grown her “Kardashian empire” based off of false values and morals is really sad for not only her children but for her. Now, I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors within the family, but what is seen on the internet and the television series, shows to me that money is what its all about for her. She loves the fame, the attention and of course all of the toys and fashion that come along with it. Kim is ‘momma’ Jenner’s cash cow and I’m sure I’m not the only one that believes that and its sad when a mother exploits her children for money. kardashian-frozen-face-vienna-wideI feel that she being the mother should be setting a better example for her girls, especially the two younger ones, Kendall and Kylie and being thrust in the spotlight as such a young with no boundaries is really disturbing. But I guess that’s how it is in hollywood right? No, it isn’t and shouldn’t be, a large percentage of celebrity parents have kept their children out of the fame mongering hollywood and that’s because they know of the many sad and atrocious things that can happen to their children in being a part of said status. But, I do feel that Kendall Jenner is the only one at the moment on the right path with her modeling career. Modeling is a hard job to do from what I seen and heard and for her to want to work in this field instead of being paid for appearances and just being known by your name is great thing, and I’m sure one would ask, “well, this was the work of the mother right”? Yes and no, the Kendall Jenner has the option to pursue her career and which she probably pushed on her own. My point in fact is that Kris Jenner has created something from her children in which they have not contributed anything significant to the world in order to have such fame and that’s really mostly due to society today. keeping_up_with_the_kardashians_a_p

Is Cara Delevingne Over Exposed?

Fendi - Runway - Milan Fashion Week Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2014

For those of us who make fashion a part of our daily lives, we’re constantly watching online media and fashion magazines to see who is who and which models are the most sought after. For the past several years, there has been one particular model who has slowly climbed ladder as the leading model for most of the luxury brands and her name is Cara Delevingne.8b9cda941afec2e7e3aa35a4636e8050

The 21 yr old has made her mark on the fashion industry starting in 2011 when she was featured in the Burberry spring/summer 2011  campaign and later being named the face of  Burberry’s spring/summer 2012 campaign. It seems as though you can’t flip through any publication or online publication without seeing her face. She’s walked the runway for designers such as Fendi, Moschino, Dolce and Gabbana and has become the muse for Karl Lagerfeld. With all of the fame as being Britain’s most successful model and most of all the leading lady for runway shows for Chanel. The question I ask is, how did this happen? With the modeling industry full of aspiring models who work just as hard and yes, those who have been modeling quite a bit longer as Delevingne don’t quite get as much exposure and create such a media frenzy when they grace the runways of such designers as Mr. Lagerfeld? cara-delevingne-chanel-show-karlWhat is it about Cara Delevingne that makes designers covet her for their campaigns? Is it her trademark eyebrows? Is it the fact that her Godfather is Nicholas Coleridge, president of Vogue’s publishing house Condé Nast International? Or is it just her luck?

theday-image1_1Take Mulberry for instance, they just launched a new campaign with Miss Delevingne and named a bag after her.  I’m taking it as the fact that she can make any brand that taps her as the face of their campaign a large sum of money. But what happens when fame goes to such a young girls head? She’s known as the party girl when she’s not gracing the covers of media publications, taking in at least 2 parties a night. At such a young age, it must be discerning for anyone in her circle to see her overworked and it seems to me to be a young girl spiraling out of control. In addition to modeling, she’s starting an acting career as well. She had a small role in the 2012 film Anna Karenina.  So, with all that said, is the Cara Delevingne bubble about to burst? Is it too much overkill? I’m betting I’m not the only one who is asking the same question.

Lady Gaga recently opened up to Harper’s Bazaar and revealed she was ‘very depressed at the end of 2013′. As being one of pops greatest icon, she shows that even great artists like her are just as vulnerable to battling their own demons inside. In the interview she went on to say “I learned that my sadness never destroyed what was great about me. You just have to go back to that greatness, find that one little light that’s left. I’m lucky I found one little glimmer stored away,” She noted that she became very depressed at the end of 2013 and found that she had such bitterness and deep sadness. She realized she no longer wanted to be depressed.

No matter how one feels about her, her music or her beliefs, exalting her as creative is undeniable and as she puts it “I’m an artist. I deserve better than to be loyal to people who only believe in me because I make money.” It seems as though in todays world people flock to celebrities such as her stature just because she makes money, but neither her nor I can ever change that. She has made some clear changes in her life that are benefiting her such as spotting someone that doesn’t have her best interest at heart and will not let anyone take advantage of her anymore.

The Bling Ring

Actor portrayals of the Bling Ring

Between 2008 and 2009 there was a series of burglaries in The Hollywood Hills CA at homes of celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Audrina Patridge, Ashley Tisdale, and DJ Paul Oakenfold. These series of burglaries caught the attention because of the high profile victims. Unbeknownst to law enforcement and the media, these burglaries were being committed by a group of teenagers. These teenagers were targeting the homes of celebrities and stealing millions of dollars in cash and belongings. The group included the supposed ring leader Rachel Lee, Nick Prugo, Alexis Neiers, Dana Tamayo, Courtney Ames, Johnny Ajar, and Roy Lopez Jr. The girls targeted the articles of clothing due to the enormously high quality each of the female celebrities had and that they were considered “fashion icons”. The girls were determined to gain the style the celebrities had and considered their burglaries as “shopping”. The teens lived privileged lives and it was considered that the use of drugs were a major component. Sofia Coppola has directed the film “The Bling Ring” chronicling the events of the burglaries. The film is due out Fri Jun 21st and I myself am looking forward to seeing it.

This week in celebrity news:

Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster and who was portrayed by Justin Timberlake in the Facebook movie The Social Network, got married this weekend with a lavish $10 million dollar wedding in Big Sur CA, and then was fined an additional $2.5 million by the California Coastal Commission. He was fined after they determined that he did not secure proper permits for the cottage, pond, fake castle ruins and other elements of the ceremony’s lavish decor that were specially built in the woods behind the Ventana Inn.

Style Icons, Mary Kate and Ashley Olson

image
We’ve seen them grow up from little babies, to little girls on the ABC sitcom Full House. The Olson Twins built an empire; starting with their own series of DVD collections. Trust me, I know, my daughters had them all. Once they started the DVD collections, there was no stopping them. From a clothing line collection not only to movies and videos, but to clothes, books, CDs and cassette tapes, fragrances and makeup, magazines, video and board games, dolls, posters, and even telephones and CD players—with a market share made up mostly of the tween demographic. They even had dolls made of them with separate clothing collection for each.
imageimage
The sisters became co-presidents of Dualstar on their 18th birthday in 2004. Since taking control of their company, the twins have become style icons, they have made famous in America the boho-chic style similar to Kate Moss and Sienna Miller which was made popular in Britain. That look is made up of oversized sunglasses, boots, loose sweaters, and flowing skirts, with an aesthetic of mixing high-end and low-end pieces. The twins became the face of the upscale fashion line Badgley Mischka in 2006. The Olsens have a clothing line for girls ages 4–14 in Wal-Mart stores across North America, and they also launched their own couture fashion label, “The Row”, named after Savile Row in London. In 2007, they launched Elizabeth & James, a contemporary collection inspired by many of their unique vintage finds and pieces in their personal wardrobes, which I personally love. So as you can see, these girls are truly young fashion icons, who cannot be replicated. So many young girls want to be like them, but I do feel that any young who want to achieve what the Olson Twins have achieved, they can.

Vogue did an article on the 10 best dressed at the Cannes Film Festival this year and there was a vote, but I felt compelled to post my top 3 best dressed.
